Top Keywords on Pinterest (2026): The Most Searched Foods, From Pinterest's Own Data

Pinterest has no public page that lists its most searched keywords. But its own free tool, Pinterest Trends, shows the top searches if you know where to look. We read it for the US, the UK and Ireland, and Canada in October 2026, took a screenshot of every list, and pulled out the food: what people search most, what is growing, and when each search peaks.
How we got these lists: we read Pinterest Trends on 10 October 2026 (Pinterest's end date: 4 October 2026) for the United States, the UK and Ireland, and Canada, and took a screenshot of every list. Pinterest's search numbers and the month each search peaks come from our free keyword tool. The Google numbers come from Semrush. Next update: early November 2026.
What are the most searched keywords on Pinterest?
As of early October 2026, the most searched thing on Pinterest in the United States is fall nails. This is Pinterest's own top 10 for all topics: the searches with the most searches in the 30 days to 4 October 2026. Pinterest calls this list "Top monthly trends".
- 1fall nails+30%
- 2nails+3%
- 3fall outfits+5%
- 4hairstyles+90%
- 5wallpaper+70%
- 6halloween nails+9%
- 7outfit ideas-8%
- 8nail ideas+100%
- 9dinner ideas-2%
- 10nail inspo+50%
What this tells you:
- 9 of the 10 are about nails, outfits, hair or wallpaper. Only one is food: dinner ideas, at #9.
- Over the full 12 months the picture is the same: nails is #1 and dinner ideas is #7.
- People search for ideas, not brands. Pinterest says 97% of its top searches have no brand name in them.
The most searched food keywords on Pinterest
As of October 2026, the most searched food on Pinterest in the United States over the last 12 months is easy dinner recipes. Pinterest Trends can show food searches only (filter: "Food and Drinks"). Here are the 10 food searches with the most searches in the last 12 months. Pinterest calls this list "Top yearly trends".
- 1easy dinner recipes-30%
- 2dinner recipes-50%
- 3banana bread recipe-6%
- 4healthy dinner recipes-30%
- 5breakfast ideas-20%
- 6chicken recipes-50%
- 7lunch ideas-6%
- 8soup recipes-20%
- 9strawberry shortcake-30%
- 10chocolate chip cookies-30%
The last 30 days look different, because fall has started:
- crockpot meals is the #1 food search, up 200% on a year ago.
- crockpot dinners is up 700%, dinner ideas for family up 400% and overnight oats recipe up 300% on a year ago.
- Soups are rising fast: soup recipes, lasagna soup, potato soup and chili recipe each grew about 200% in one month.
- chicken recipes-70%
- dinner recipes-60%
- healthy dinner recipes-60%
- crockpot meals+200%
- overnight oats recipe+300%
- dinner ideas for family+400%
- crockpot dinners+700%
People still want dinner. They just type what kind of dinner. In the same 30 days, the short, general searches went down and the longer, more exact ones went up. That is why we build every pin around a longer search (see our Pinterest SEO method).
"dinner ideas" is #9 of all Pinterest searches this month, "dinner recipes" only #66. People open Pinterest before they know what to cook. So put the idea in your pin title ("easy fall dinner ideas") and the recipe in your description.
The biggest food searches by dish type
The biggest food search phrase in our data is healthy dinner recipes, with 2,654,160 searches on Pinterest's own count.
Pinterest gives each search phrase its own search number. We read these numbers with our free keyword tool for 56 popular dishes and topics: 18,977 searches, 7,575 of them with a real Pinterest number (October 2026). These are Pinterest's own numbers, worldwide and long-term, not one month. Use them to compare searches, not as monthly traffic.

When to pin them: the month each search peaks
Holiday food searches on Pinterest jump late: most go from a quarter of their peak to the peak in just 1 to 2 weeks (US, 2025 to 2026). Most food searches have a season. This is the month each big search peaks in the United States:
- healthy dinner recipes
- meal prep for the week
- mexican food recipes
- recipes with ground beef
- edible cookie dough recipes easy
- chicken salad sandwich
- easter brunch recipes
- brunch ideas at home
- party food table
- chicken salad recipe
- picnic food ideas
- 4th of july food ideas
- chicken salad with grapes
- ground beef recipes for dinner
- lunch ideas for school
- casserole recipes for dinner
- fall baking recipes
- halloween food for party
- fall soup recipes
- fall dinner recipes
- meatloaf recipes
- chili recipe crockpot
- thanksgiving recipes side dishes
- mac and cheese recipe
- christmas cookies recipes
- appetizers for party
Holiday searches jump late. They stay low most of the year, then jump in the last weeks: "4th of july food ideas" and "easter brunch recipes" took 1 week from a quarter of their peak to the peak, "thanksgiving recipes side dishes", "christmas cookies recipes" and "mac and cheese recipe" took 2 weeks. "halloween food for party" is close to zero until August, starts climbing in September and peaks in October.
A new pin needs time to be found. If you pin when the searches jump, you are already late. So pin holiday recipes 1 to 2 months before the day. In our accounts, that is the window that works, and our free keyword tool points the same way: about 2 months before the peak.
Everyday searches stay high for months. "meatloaf recipes" and "healthy dinner recipes" are searched all year: meatloaf is highest from October to March, healthy dinners in January. "chili recipe crockpot" is different: almost nobody searches it from April to August, then it climbs in September and stays high until January. Pin the all-year searches all year, and start the fall and winter ones in August. More in our seasonal Pinterest guide.
What food is trending on Pinterest right now?
As of 4 October 2026, the fastest growing food search on Pinterest in the United States is homemade monkey bread recipe: up 2,500% in one month. This list is not about size. It shows the food searches that grew the most in the last 90 days. Pinterest calls it "Growing trends".
- 1homemade monkey bread recipe+2,500%+80%
- 2fall appetizer ideas+1,500%+2,000%
- 3carmel apple bar ideas+1,500%+8,500%
- 4easy fall dinner recipe+1,000%+6,000%
- 5pull apart monkey bread+1,000%+200%
- 6roasted butternut squash soup+900%-30%
- 7easy fall dinner+900%-1%
- 8halloween appetizer ideas+800%+2,000%
- 9halloween treats easy+800%-30%
- 10brocolli cheddar soup+700%+400%
Pinterest has one more list, "Seasonal trends": searches that come back at the same time every year. In early October 2026 it shows easy halloween treats for kids, fall potluck dishes, halloween appetizers easy, quick fall dinner ideas and roasted butternut squash soup. Because they return every year, a good pin you make now can rank again next October.
The UK and Canada search differently
Over the 12 months to October 2026, the top food search on Pinterest is easy dinner recipes in the US, birthday cake in the UK and Ireland, and banana bread recipe in Canada. Pinterest is not the same kitchen in every country.
- 1easy dinner recipes
- 2dinner recipes
- 3banana bread recipe
- 4healthy dinner recipes
- 5breakfast ideas
- 1birthday cake
- 2breakfast ideas
- 3fruit
- 4lunch ideas
- 5cake
- 1banana bread recipe
- 2breakfast ideas
- 3watch party ideas
- 4lunch ideas
- 5chocolate chip cookies
What changes from country to country:
- The US searches dinner. Dinner recipes and easy dinner recipes lead the year.
- The UK searches baking and cake. Birthday cake, cake, baking and cupcakes are all in the UK top 40. "Dinner recipes" is not in the UK top 50 at all.
- Canada searches banana bread and cookies, and uses its own words: "supper ideas" is in its top 20.
- The words change. The UK searches "autumn baking", Canada searches "fall baking".
- The calendar changes. In Canada, "thanksgiving recipes" grew 1,500% in one month, because Canadian Thanksgiving is on 12 October. In the US, the same searches peak in November.
Google shows the same food topics
Some people search on Google and add the word "Pinterest", like "pinterest chicken recipes". They are on Google, but they want Pinterest ideas. In the United States there are 13,006 different food searches like that, about 67,190 searches a month on Google (Semrush, October 2026). The plain ones are the biggest: "pinterest recipes" (8,100 a month) and "pinterest food" (1,900). We grouped the rest by the dish word in them:
| Dish word | Searches a month |
|---|---|
| chicken | 4,910 |
| dinner | 4,510 |
| healthy | 3,070 |
| cookies | 2,490 |
| slow cooker / crockpot | 2,050 |
| desserts | 1,720 |
| cake | 1,700 |
| christmas | 1,150 |
| soup | 1,010 |
| salad | 790 |
How to find the top searches yourself (free)
You do not need a paid tool. Three free ways:
- Pinterest Trends. Log in with your Pinterest business account and open Pinterest Trends, then "Search trends". Pick your country, tick Interest "Food and Drinks", then choose Top monthly, Top yearly, Growing or Seasonal. To see one dish over 12 months, type it in "Search for a keyword".
- The Pinterest search bar. Type your dish slowly and read the suggestions under the bar. They are real searches people make, the longer versions of your dish.
- Our free Pinterest keyword tool. It shows Pinterest's own search numbers and the best month for hundreds of longer searches around one dish.
For the full method (which search to pick, and where to put it on your pin), read our Pinterest SEO guide.
Should you pin for the biggest searches?
Yes, but not alone. "dinner ideas" is one of the most searched phrases on all of Pinterest, so a huge number of pins compete for it.
- Use the big search as your topic, and a longer search as your pin: not "dinner ideas", but "easy fall dinner ideas for family".
- In our study of 440 top pins, only 13% of the top spots were brand-new pins, and those were longer searches. For the biggest searches, expect it to be harder.
- The big lists tell you what people love. The long searches tell you where a new pin can win.
- In our experience, longer is better. A pin built on "easy fall dinner ideas for family" can rank for that long search and for the short one, "dinner ideas", because the short words are inside the long one. A pin titled only "dinner ideas" fights for the most crowded search, alone.

Someone who types "dinner ideas" does not know yet what to cook, so a page with 27 ideas fits that person better than one recipe. The words in those titles (cheap, fall, family, easy, weeknight, quick) are the same words Pinterest suggests under the search bar and in the bubbles above the results. So one list pin can hold the big search and several long ones at once: "27 Cheap Fall Dinners for Families" = dinner ideas + cheap dinners + fall dinners + family dinners.
Tip: to go after a big search, write a roundup of your own recipes for it, and put the long words in the title. Keep it a real title people want to click, not a list of keywords.
Your plan for this month (5 steps)
- Pick 3 topics from the food lists above that fit your blog (for example crockpot dinners, soups, fall baking).
- Find the long versions of each one: the Pinterest search bar suggestions or our free keyword tool.
- Check your readers' country in Pinterest Analytics, and use their words (fall or autumn, dinner or supper).
- Use the calendar: pin each recipe 1 to 2 months before its peak month.
- For one big search, make one roundup post of your own recipes, with the long words in the title.

What our numbers can and cannot tell you
- Three countries. The lists are for the United States, the UK and Ireland, and Canada. Other countries search differently.
- One moment. These lists are from early October 2026. They change every month, and so will this page.
- Order, not counts. Pinterest Trends shows the order and the % change, not the number of searches. Pinterest rounds the %.
- Pinterest's food filter is not exact. "dinner ideas" is missing from it and "flower" is in it. We say when we left something out.
- Peak months come from one year. The season data covers October 2025 to October 2026, for the United States.
- Our tool's numbers are long-term. The search numbers from our keyword tool are Pinterest's own long-term numbers, not one month.
- Google numbers are estimates. They come from Semrush, for the United States.
- Search results change by account. The "dinner ideas" pins were checked on one account, on one day.
